Thanks for stopping by! I'm Amanda and I teach yoga and meditation on the North Shore of Lake Travis. I love to travel and spend time out in nature, exploring or playing on the water. When I'm not teaching yoga or studying Ayurveda, I can usually be found covered in dirt, working on our little slice of the American dream, pretending to be a farmer. I'm a rock star in my mind and own a couple of guitars. I dream of one day actually being able to play an entire song. I'm a native New Mexican, but found my way to Austin in the late 90's. My husband and I moved out to the lake to raise our two kids in 2007, and I opened up a local yoga studio several years later. I have since closed the studio, but continue to teach public and private lessons around town. I hope you'll join me for a class, and look forward to getting to know you!
I began dabbling in yoga after college, when classes were few and far between and it was still considered a bit "fringe". As fate would have it, I tagged along with my mom to my very first yoga class out in Lago Vista, back when it was basically a retirement community. If you had told me then that one day I would end up teaching yoga in that sleepy, little town, I would have laughed. Fast forward fifteen or so years, and here I am... teaching yoga in the very building I used to run around as a kid, while on vacation visiting my grandparents. Crazy how life goes.
Prior to life as a yoga instructor, I sampled many majors in college, paid my dues in the service industry, worked my way though the ranks in retail, and bounced back from pregnancy as a fitness instructor. I feel like everything from my past has led me to where I am today and shows up in my classes. Music, literature, and Mother Nature are what inspire me most and I love to incorporate these things into my classes, as well. I feel most at home outdoors and love bringing the practice of yoga out into nature whenever possible.
My formal studies include Hatha Yoga, Buddhist Meditation, Kundalini Yoga, Yoga Nidra, Stand Up Paddleboard Yoga, and I am currently studying to become a certified Ayurveda Practitioner. I have accrued countless hours in continuing education and will never stop being a student of this life-changing practice.
I am forever humbled and grateful for this opportunity to share the practice that has changed my own life in so many ways. Thank you for your trust in allowing me to be a part of your practice!
